The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Mining invites registered entities to make applications through its online trade portal at http://www.moatrade.gov.jm for the importation of chicken backs and necks. The period for applications under the revised regime will run from April 1 to April 8, 2025. Qualified entities will be contacted regarding these items. GOV’T Investing In Agriculture Research And Development

The Government is investing in research and development (R&D) to build resilience and sustainability in agriculture.

The investment includes the previously announced expenditure of $6.3 billion, over the next six years, in the renovation of Bodles in St. Catherine and other research facilities across the island.

Gov’t Looking to Reduce Duties on Imported Food

The Government is reviewing duties on imported food with the aim of reducing these charges.

Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, said that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service and the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce are working together on the review.
