Jamaica to Lead Caribbean Aquaculture with New 200-Acre Park in Clarendon

Jamaica is poised to host the Caribbean’s Aquaculture Centre with the establishment of a new model 200-acre aquaculture park in Mitchell Town, Clarendon.

Gov’t Provides $7.5 Million to Assist 5,000 Farmers to Sign Up for Insurance

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining has allocated $7.5 million to assist at least 5,000 farmers to get on the GK Weather Protect insurance policy.

The move comes as the country prepares for the June 1 start of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

$900 Million to Be Spent on Improving Farm Roads

The Government will continue improvements to the country’s farm road network with an allocation of $900 million for the current fiscal year.

A total of 60 farm roads are targeted for construction or rehabilitation under the Farm Road Programme, said Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Hon. Floyd Green.
